Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV Emerges as Malaysia’s Best-Selling PHEV Model in 2026

PRO-NET today announced that more than 20,000 Proton e.MAS vehicles are now on Malaysian roads, signifying considerable progress in the brand’s acceleration of electric mobility nationwide.

“Surpassing the 20,000-unit milestone reflects the strong trust Malaysian customers have placed in Proton e.MAS. More importantly, it indicates a clear shift in Malaysia, where more drivers are embracing electrified mobility with confidence.” said Mr Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.

The achievement is driven by strong demand across the Proton e.MAS lineup, led by the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, which has emerged as Malaysia’s best-selling plug-in hybrid model in 2026 year-to-date, with 1,755 units registered. Since its launch in early February, the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV has continued to gain momentum, recording more than 6,500 bookings within just a couple of months. In April 2026 alone, the model recorded 1,013 registrations, contributing to its cumulative year-to-date leadership in the PHEV segment.

Overall, the Proton e.MAS lineup has achieved 20,509 cumulative registrations year-to-date, comprising 10,067 units of Proton e.MAS 7 and 8,687 units of Proton e.MAS 5, with April 2026 alone contributing 3,421 registrations across the range; including 1,772 units of Proton e.MAS 5 and 636 units of Proton e.MAS 7, reflecting sustained demand for its electrified portfolio.

“As our electric vehicle base continues to grow, it is equally important that we strengthen the ecosystem supporting our customers. Our focus remains on ensuring a reliable, seamless and enjoyable ownership experience that builds long-term confidence in electrified mobility.” Mr Zhang Qiang added.

Strengthening Nationwide EV Ecosystem to Support Rapid Growth
As Proton e.MAS vehicles on the road continue to grow, PRO-NET is scaling its nationwide ecosystem in tandem to ensure customers receive consistent support throughout the ownership journey. This includes expanding dealer coverage, strengthening aftersales capacity, and improving access to EV charging support across key markets.

Currently, the Proton e.MAS network comprises 53 dealer operations nationwide, supported by 10 body and paint centres, with 3S centres expanding towards 40 locations in response to increasing customer demand. In parallel, service capabilities and technical readiness are being enhanced to ensure faster turnaround times and improved customer convenience at the ground level.

These ongoing expansions are designed to ensure that growth in vehicle adoption is matched by a stronger and more accessible support network nationwide.
